Level 1 -
Developing Yoga Students
Level 1 classes are for students with little or no yoga experience. These students are expected to be in normal health with no limiting injuries and are able to get up and down from the floor without assistance. Anyone not meeting this criteria is recommended to attend a CHAIR YOGA series.
Level 1 classes will teach basic, foundational hatha yoga postures (excluding sun salutations - surya namaskar), as well as strengthening and postural alignment necessary to advance to the level 2 classes.
Level 2 classes are for students who have some experience with hatha yoga. These students are expected to be in normal health with no limiting injuries and are able to get up and down from the floor without assistance. Level 2 students should be competent enough to modify postures appropriately. A level 2 student should be able to flow through sun salutations - surya namaskar - with little to no difficulty.
Level 2 classes will introduce some “challenge” postures such as arm balances and inversions to prepare the student for advancement to level 3 classes.
Level 2 -
Emerging YOGA Students
Level 3 classes are for students who have a consistent, weekly yoga practice. These students are expected to be in normal health with no limiting injuries and able to modify postures as necessary without guidance. Level 3 students should be able to complete several rounds of sun salutation - surya namaskar - with no difficulty.
Level 3 classes will include “challenge” postures such as arm balances and inversions (modifications are welcome, but will not always be taught).
Level 3 -
Proficient Yoga STUDENTS
All levels classes consist of classes outside the general scope of “hatha yoga”. These classes include yin and restorative, as well as special yoga nidra offerings. Most if not all of the class will be practiced while seated or reclining on the floor. All students that are in good health and have no limiting injuries are welcome to attend these classes.
Chair yoga is a beginning hatha yoga class utilizing the chair for support during postures. Breathing, range of motion exercises and traditional hatha yoga postures will be taught using the chair or wall. This class is suitable for students who have limited mobility, limited range of motion, are unable to get up and down from the floor, and who are recovering from injury.
Chair yoga classes are taught in 6 week series and must be registered for in advance.
