At first yin yoga may seem quite slow and boring, but it is, in fact, quite challenging as we hold the postures for a longer duration (1-5 minutes). Yin yoga is done almost exclusively seated on the floor which makes this an ideal choice for individuals who have difficulty transitioning from seated to standing. We also recommend yin yoga to athletes and those who practice more vigorous styles of yoga as a way of balancing those more yang styles of activity. Our Yin Yoga classes are considered All Levels appropriate.
In a Yin Yoga class positions may be held for several minutes at a time using the support of a variety of props including bolsters, blocks, and blankets. The positions are designed to focus on stretching connective tissue.
